About me
“People don’t need to be forced to grow. All we need is favorable circumstances: respect, love, honesty, and the space to explore.” - Ellen Bass
Hello! I’m Casey (she/her) and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) living and practicing in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. I came to this work after working for several years in the education technology space. Though the tug towards a helping profession was always there, I had my own work to do (or journey to go on, if you may) before I was ready to make the leap. Since my departure from tech, I’ve had experiences working with children and youth considered at-risk, volunteering at a crisis line, and facilitating trauma-informed yoga classes in in-patient settings. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to change careers later in my life and am honoured to be able to do this work.
I bring humility, compassion, non-judgment, and a commitment to being a lifelong student of counselling psychology into my work. As a counsellor, my goal is to co-create a space with you that is built on respect, acceptance, and the freedom to show up as your authentic self. I believe that the person (or people) sitting across from me have an innate wisdom about what they need, but that sometimes we just need a bit of support to tap into that wisdom and begin to take steps towards the life we long for.
I recognize that finding and sustaining love with others and ourselves can be one of life’s greatest challenges. To feel a sense of security in ourselves, and to build secure attachments with other humans, can be incredibly challenging for those of us who are living with attachment wounds. I believe therapy can be one way to begin to heal these wounds, and begin to rewire our nervous systems for the kind of love that is life-giving and energizing.
Counselling can take many forms: it can simply be a space to share, a place to explore solutions, or an opportunity to delve deeper and uncover insights that may be difficult to access on your own. My work is relational and attachment-focused, grounded in helping clients understand patterns, heal past wounds, and create more fulfilling connections with themselves and others. Together, we’ll clarify what you need from counselling, and I’ll adapt my approach to meet you where you are.
